of SIET programme from DDK, Patna has been restored (with effect from 01.03.2000),. The
new timings of the transmission are from 5 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. More than 450 programmes
(capsules) in the magazine format have so far been telecast by DDK, Patna which include
programmes on syllabus based contents, enrichment and entertainment. Some of the titles of our enrichment and entertainment programmes are : MERA BACHPAN (When I was a child), KAR KE SEEKHEN (Learning by doing), YOGASAN (Yoga), APKA PATRA MILA (Answer to viewers letters) etc. We are also planning to produce Audio/Radio educational programmes for future broadcast by AIR, Patna Our prime target viewers are children of age group 6 to 14 throughout Bihar. We are also producing some programmes for pre- school children. It is very satisfying to note that our programmes are viewed also by guardians of these children who interact with us personally and through letters. We have produced a few programmes for teachers also. We wish to make more programmes for teachers, teachers training, teaching-learning materials etc. Scripts
for our programmes are developed through various workshops organised at SIET. The workshops are
attended by schoolteachers, subject- experts, lecturers, psychologists, Production
Assistants and established script-writers. These scripts are then evaluated/vetted by
Script Selection Committee and then handed over to Producers according to their field of
interest for final production. Feedback of our programmes is taken from school children
of various districts of Bihar from time to time. The last such study was undertaken the districts of Darbhanga, Jamshedpur, Munger and
Patna.We have started receiving feedback
through letters from our viewers on our programmes. The response has been overwhelming.
Indradhanush has already become popular with the target audience. Its
popularity may be gauged from the fact that viewers are requesting extension of duration
of this programme from half an hour to one hour. Our future plan is to include all the
Navodaya Vidyalayas and Central Schools in Bihar for receiving their feedback on a regular
basis so that the impact of our programmes could be studied. The feedback will also enable
us to improve upon the quality of these programmes. We also plan to survey the
schools under BEP, SPEED and SSA to study the ratio of rural children watching our
programmes. We plan to organise one workshop on Evaluation in June, 2000. May
